Bicigrino in video: our rental bikes for the Camino (and how to travel light without giving up anything)
This video -recorded by De Rutas y Sendas-shows in detail how we prepare our rental bicycles to safely and comfortably face the Camino de Santiago and other cyclotourism routes.
What the video shows you, in a nutshell
Bikes ready for pilgrimage: set-up designed for several days with luggage rack, watertight panniers and a comfortable position for long days.
Useful accessories (without exaggeration): lights, frame bag holder, water bottle and basic tool kit to solve the most common problems.
Bicigrino philosophy: travel light, with what is necessary; the rest is bought or replenished on the route (bars, stores and pharmacies are always nearby on the Camino).
How it fits with our “What to wear (and what not to wear)” guide.
Intelligent lightness: the video reinforces the idea that many things do not need to be carried from home. For example, basic first aid kit, yes; full pharmacy, no.
The 20% that solves the 80%: bike in good condition, waterproof panniers, 2 water bottles, multitool with chain tool, 2 inner tubes and patches. With that and your technical clothing that washes and dries in an afternoon, you’ll be well taken care of.
Mixed pedals = peace of mind: one side flat, one side SPD. Safe starts in town or on dirt, and efficiency when cleated (this is how our rental bikes come).
Assembly details that make the difference
Reliable transmission and powerful brakes for heavy days.
Mixed tires with inner tubes, resistant and versatile both on track and asphalt.
Comfortable position: adjusted saddle height, stem and handlebars designed for hours of pedaling without overloading the neck or hands.
Waterproof saddlebags with “roll” closure for the Galician rain: nothing worse than wet clothes on the second day.
What is included when you rent with Bicigrino?
Luggage rack + waterproof saddlebags, lights, water bottle, padlock, frame bag, tool kit (multi with stem, detachable, patches, 2 inner tubes, oil) and guide/credential.
Mixed pedals installed (platform/SPD) for you to choose at any time.
Delivery and adjustment through a partner mechanic at the usual departure points (subject to availability).
👉 This service has a supplement of 20 €, which covers the final check, the personalized adjustment and the delivery of the bike.
This set allows you to reduce personal luggage: less things to pack, more energy to enjoy the Camino.
Quick tips to avoid overcharging
Clothes in “daily washing mode”: 2 culottes + 2 jerseys + 2 technical jerseys. Wash every evening, dry in the morning.
Replenish > carry: bars, fruit, sunscreen, tissues… buy them daily.
Essential first aid kit: pain reliever, plasters/gauze, disinfectant, Vaseline for chafing, aftersun. If you are allergic to stings, take antihistamine and cream from day 1; if not, buy it if you need it.
Avoid duplication: good multitools are better than a whole set of wrenches.
Rest assured: if you sleep in lodgings, a light sleeping bag is usually enough. The heavy bag is heavy and you will not use it much.
Why this video is useful if you are planning your Camino
Shows you real expectations of the material you will leave with.
Helps you decide what to leave at home.
Reaffirms that the Camino is full of services: you don’t need to “carry just in case”, but choose well and replenish en route.
