A guide written from the saddle
67 pages covering the 13 stages from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago, the extension to Fisterra and Muxía, maps, elevation profiles, bike workshops and accommodation that welcomes bicycles. A free PDF download, no sign-up.
This guide comes from riding the Camino Francés by bike again and again, and from supporting, season after season, the people who ride it on our rental bikes. The first edition came out in 2016. The 2027 edition has been rebuilt from start to finish: new design, new maps, updated information on the route and on accommodation, and a special section on the Holy Year.
We wrote it for people who are actually going to set off: what you will find each day, where to take care, which way to go when it rains, and where to sleep knowing your bike is welcome.
What’s inside

The 13 stages
Each stage opens with a fact sheet (map, profile, distance, elevation gain and difficulty), followed by an account of the day as you live it on the bike.
Watch out on the route
The points that need care, numbered in the same order as they appear on the map and the profile: tricky descents, forks, muddy sections.
Variants and alternatives
The road options for when mud or gradient make them the wiser choice, and the well-known major detours of the Camino.
Xacobeo 2027 special
What the Holy Year is, how the jubilee is earned, the key dates and what changes for pilgrims on bikes, including the 200 km required for the Compostela.
Fisterra and Muxía
The extension to the ocean, section by section, for those who want to ride on after Santiago.
Emergency repairs
How to fix a broken chain and how to change an inner tube, explained step by step with pictures.
Workshops on the route
Our network of 14 partner workshops, one for each key point on the route, with address, phone number and opening hours.
Albergues and hotels
The accommodation listed on bicigrino.com, in order from Saint-Jean to Santiago, with the kilometres left to the finish and contact details.
Before you go
The pilgrim credential, pedals, waymarking and the practical advice worth having clear before your first pedal stroke.
How we put it together
Thirteen stages, the same as the planner. The stages, distances and elevation figures are those of the Bicigrino route planner and are drawn from our own GPS tracks. What you read in the guide matches what you will later see on your phone. The stage ends are a suggestion, not an obligation: depending on your fitness, the weather and your type of bike, your stops may be different.
Maps that read like the map of Spain. The Camino runs from east to west, so on the maps the start is on the right and the finish on the left, with a dot every 10 km and an arrow pointing north. The profiles, on the other hand, follow the direction of travel, from left to right, with each town at its kilometre and altitude.
Checked accommodation. Every albergue and hotel in the guide comes from the bicigrino.com catalogue and accepts cyclists and bicycles: that is the condition for being listed. The list was updated in October 2026; even so, always confirm before you set off.
Workshops verified one by one. Addresses, phone numbers and opening hours checked by hand, not copied from other guides.
No third-party advertising. The only thing you will find at the end is our own services: the fleet, the rates, assistance and how to return your bike in Santiago.

Xacobeo 2027 special
2027 is a Compostelan Holy Year and the Camino is going to be busy. The guide devotes a section to what you need to know: the jubilee, the Holy Door, the credential and the Compostela for those arriving by bike. For the full background, read our article on Xacobeo 2027 by bike.
Book in 2026, ride in 2027. With the code BICIGRINO2027 you get 10% off, the 2026 price and your bike guaranteed for your dates. Valid for bookings made by 31 December 2026 for dates in 2027. See the offer.

For Bicigrino rental customers, and for those riding their own bike
The guide is useful to any cyclist, but it was written above all for those riding the Camino on one of our bikes. That is why it includes the fleet and rates, Asistencia Total cover, day rental in Galicia and, step by step, how to return your bike and collect your luggage at the Hospedería San Martín Pinario, one minute from the cathedral.

Two versions, both free
The full guide has the photographs and maps in high quality: it is the one we recommend for reading on a computer or tablet, or for printing. The light version has the same content, page for page, with compressed images: it is less than half the size, downloads quickly on mobile data and can be forwarded on WhatsApp to your riding companions.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The guide is not for sale: you download it for free and can share it with anyone you like.
Do I have to register or leave my email?
No. You tap the button and the PDF opens.
Can I use it offline?
Yes. Once downloaded, it is saved on your phone or computer and needs no signal.
Is it useful if I ride the Camino on my own bike?
Yes. The stages, maps, workshops and accommodation apply to any cyclist. Only the final services section refers to our rental.
Does it include the GPS tracks?
The tracks are in the route planner, which also works as a GPS on your phone. The guide and the planner share the same stages and distances.
How often is it updated?
This is the 2027 edition. If there are significant changes on the Camino or in the accommodation, we update the file and the button on this page always downloads the latest version.
