A Camino bike rental is one-way: you collect the bike where your route starts and leave it where it ends. This page lists exactly where that happens with Bicigrino, city by city, with the bike shop, its opening pattern and the supplement where there is one. Details last checked in October 2026; the booking page always shows the current supplement before you pay.
How pick-up works
Every bike is prepared at our base in Santiago and shipped to your starting point. Whenever we can, we hand it over at a partner bike shop rather than a hotel reception. A mechanic checks it after transport and sets the saddle and handlebars for you before you leave. To collect it you give your name and booking number. Nothing else.
- Book at least 10 days ahead. That is the time we need to prepare the bike and send it, whatever the city.
- No Sunday handovers. Many shops also close on Saturdays, so check the notes below against your arrival day.
- Arriving at a weekend? Book a hotel in the starting city and we send the bike there for the day you check in.

Starting somewhere else?
We deliver to any city in Spain and Portugal, on the Camino or off it. If your start is not in the tables, tell us where and we arrange the handover at a local bike shop or at the hotel where you are staying. We also rent bikes for other routes, such as the crossing of the Pyrenees.
Where to drop off the bike in Santiago
The return point is the Hospedería San Martín Pinario, Plaza de la Inmaculada 3, on the north side of the cathedral. Reception is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. You do not book a slot and nobody inspects the bike while you wait. Hand it over at reception, take your belongings out of the panniers, and you are done. Your €200 deposit is refunded between 1 and 10 days later.
Finishing somewhere other than Santiago
| Where you finish | How the return works | Cost per bike |
|---|---|---|
| Finisterre or Muxía | Leave the bike at your hotel; we collect it | €70 |
| Tui (Camino Portugués) | Leave the bike at your hotel. Check first that they can keep it for 3 or 4 working days | No charge |
| Sarria | Leave the bike at your hotel or at our partner accommodation | Confirmed when you ask |
| Zamora | Return at a bike shop in the city, arranged in advance | €70 |
| Anywhere else | Agreed with us before you travel | Confirmed when you ask |
Always tell us before you book if you plan to finish away from Santiago, so we can confirm the point and the cost in writing.
If you have to stop early
Accidents and illness happen. If you have to abandon the Camino Francés, write to our WhatsApp, which is answered 24 hours a day. We tell you where to leave the bike, at a hotel or bike shop close to you, and we do not charge for collecting it.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I pick up a rental bike for the Camino de Santiago?
With Bicigrino, in any city in Spain or Portugal and in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. The usual pick-up points are partner bike shops in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Pamplona, Burgos, León, Astorga, Ponferrada, Porto, Lisbon, Irún, Bilbao, Santander, Gijón and Seville, plus the Hotel Roncesvalles in Roncesvalles.
Where do I drop off the bike in Santiago de Compostela?
At the Hospedería San Martín Pinario, Plaza de la Inmaculada 3, beside the cathedral. Reception is open 24 hours a day, every day. You need no appointment and there is no inspection while you wait.
Can you deliver the bike to my hotel?
We prefer a partner bike shop, because a mechanic checks the bike after transport and adjusts it to you. Where there is no partner shop, or the shop is closed for a holiday, we deliver to the hotel where you are staying.
Can I pick up the bike on a Sunday?
No. We do not deliver bikes on Sundays at any point. If you want to start riding on a Sunday, book a hotel in the starting city for the night before and we send the bike there, or start on Monday.
Is there an extra charge for picking up in a particular city?
Some pick-up points carry a supplement per bike: €20 in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, Pamplona, Burgos, Ponferrada, Porto, Santander and Gijón, and €30 in Lisbon. The booking page shows the supplement before you pay.
Can I return the bike somewhere other than Santiago?
Yes, by prior agreement. In Tui we collect from your hotel at no charge, and in Sarria you can leave the bike at your accommodation. In Finisterre, Muxía or Zamora the collection costs €70 per bike.
What happens if I have to abandon the Camino?
If an accident, illness or other emergency stops you on the Camino Francés, write to our WhatsApp. We tell you where to leave the bike, at a hotel or bike shop near you, and there is no charge for the collection.
