La Cabaña del Abuelo Peuto Hostel (Güemes)

OPEN ALL YEAR.

The hostel is a large white house at the top of a hill at the end of a small local road.

Without doubt one of the most magical places on the entire Camino del Norte. In this wonderful and unusual hostel you will rest in a haven of peace surrounded by nature and, most importantly, in the company of Father Ernesto and the people who look after pilgrims with countless attentions in this special, welcoming place.

The hostel has a suitable place to store bicycles and, besides being one of the best hostels on the whole route, it is also an ideal spot to finish a stage and set off the next day to cross the Bay of Santander by boat.

PLACES CANNOT BE BOOKED IN ADVANCE. It is recommended to call, at most, the day before arrival.

Multi-purpose room, large garden areas outside, a place to store bicycles, and modern, functional dormitories with everything you need (sockets by each bed to charge phones and other devices).

Dinner is communal, and sharing a table with Father Ernesto and hearing about his many life experiences, as well as his many travels through South America and Africa, will not leave you indifferent.

The village of Güemes is a small hamlet with houses scattered across the green hills and farmland typical of Cantabria.

The charm of the place comes from the nature surrounding the hostel and the rural world. A haven of peace and the perfect rest to recover and gather experiences in the company of people deeply involved with the Camino.
