Amenities

The “El Jardín de Muruzábal” Hostel is a building fully renovated in April 2015, located on a large landscaped property where you can enjoy a pleasant rest after a hard stage of the Camino de Santiago.

In our hostel you can choose between several accommodation options. We have 2 double bedrooms each with private bathroom, 1 double bedroom and another triple that share a bathroom, and a room with 14 bunk beds sharing 2 bathrooms.

As common areas, the hostel offers an equipped kitchen, a large lounge with 2 sofa areas and a library, and two large porches where you can enjoy the sunsets of Valdizarbe.

For pilgrims arriving by bike, the hostel has a garage to store the bikes and repair them if necessary.

And we do not forget the pilgrims who do the Camino on horseback or with a pet. They are welcome, provided the animals stay outside the building. BUEN CAMINO!

The Church of Santa María de Eunate is from the 12th century. Due to its octagonal floor plan, the first theories declared that Eunate was a Templar church, in relation to other centrally planned churches such as the Templar convent of Tomar, the Temple Church of London or the Holy Sepulchre of Pisa, all inspired by the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. This supposed Templar origin and the aura of mystery surrounding the church have contributed to esoteric interpretations.

The name “Eunate” comes from the Basque for “a hundred doors” and refers to the arches surrounding this old hermitage.
