Amenities
As we are in the middle of the route of the famous Camino de Santiago, we host its walkers to offer them the best possible rest on their pilgrimage. Being so close to Portomarín and just 25 minutes from Lugo, the cultural offer we can provide is very large and diverse.
Modern facilities adapted to the walker’s needs, making your stay in the town of Portomarín as pleasant as possible.
ServicesIn 1962 the Belesar reservoir was built and the village moved to the neighbouring Monte do Cristo. There, some of the most important buildings, both civil and religious, were rebuilt; especially the Church of San Nicolás, in Romanesque style, raised by the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, whose stones were numbered and reassembled in their current location.
In the seasons when the reservoir level drops, the remains of the old buildings, the breakwater and the original bridge are still visible. Besides being known for its landscape, Portomarín also has very good aguardiente (spirit), which has received numerous awards. On Easter Sunday the aguardiente is made there, in the square in front of the church, at the Festa do Augardente.
The best logistics of the Camino de Santiago. We have a hotel next to the cathedral of Santiago as a point of assistance and collection of our rental bicycles.
