The hostel is in a sparsely populated area, right on the Camino, next to the road that leads to Santiago de Compostela.

Santa Irene is a small hamlet between Arzúa and Santiago de Compostela; it is made up of a few houses and scarce services, surrounded by eucalyptus forests. Near the hostel are the chapel and fountain of Santa Irene that give the hostel its name.
