The website of the bicigrino and the services that derive from it have been articulated from the point of view of my personal experience, having traveled the Camino 8 times. Everything learned along the way is now transferred here to the assembly and provision of the bicycles that are rented.

The bicycle rental service on the bicigrino website is aimed at facilitating the journey for those who decide to do it by bicycle and who, unable or unwilling to use their own, decide to opt for renting as a better option.

By renting a bicycle through this website you are not simply renting a bicycle to do the Camino de Santiago. The bicycles are modified and adapted to the particular needs of cycle tourism and especially the Camino de Santiago, among other details they are all equipped with semi-automatic pedals in order to ensure that they adapt to the needs of the largest number of users (those who prefer to go with sneakers of coves and those that do not). They all have extensions on the handlebars in order to ensure a correct ergonomic position of the hands during long days of pedalling. Gel covers are provided for the saddle to prevent chafing, and many other peculiarities that take care of every last detail so that what is rented more than covers the expectations of those who, with all the enthusiasm in the world, embark on the paths of the Santiago’s road.

Next, a step-by-step video tutorial on how to reserve a Mountain Bike or an Electric Bicycle from our official website bicigrino.com

Around the bike rental there is a whole network of added services that will give you extra peace of mind on the road. The rental service is supported by the BICIGREEN hotel network and the BICIGRINOS hostel network. In addition, there is a wide network of mechanical workshops throughout the route in order to give you coverage at all times. You will only have to worry about going to the agreed point for collecting the bicycle, making your way and then after completing the challenge, taking the bicycle to the agreed point for delivery.

The rental price includes transportation to any point that you propose to start the path from any of its routes (the French path, the Portuguese path, the silver path, the north path, the primitive path) and the collection also in any place of the Spanish geography that you decide to finish the route (it is necessary to arrange with a bicycle shop the packaging of the bicycle, since without the bicycle being packed, it cannot be collected). You can even rent a bike if you wish to go on any multi-day cycle route you can think of.

For those who doubt the convenience or not of transporting their own bicycle to the road and have to equip their bicycle with the necessary accessories, racks, panniers…, if they also have double suspension bicycles that require more complex systems and higher prices to be able to attach the luggage…, for this type of user, simply adding the costs of the acquisition of that material and the transport of the bicycle, they will immediately come to the conclusion that renting is much more affordable and is much more comfortable than carrying the own bike. From an approximate amount of 310 euros you can complete the entire path with a thoroughly equipped bicycle and with transport costs included in the price.

The bicycles that we rent come equipped, among other things, with these accessories designed to provide you with peace of mind and guarantees on the road:

• Specific and pre-installed rack.

• Extensions on the handlebars to provide greater comfort on the road.

• Pair of ORTLIEB BACK ROLLER CITY Saddlebags recommended on the bicycle rider’s website, waterproof, with click fastening system to put on and take off easily.

• Lock to keep the bike safe.

• Practical bag on the top bar, ideal for carrying your camera or mobile phone (for example) on the road.

• Tool kit with cameras, patches, pump and multi-tool (with chain cutter) to solve any eventuality on the road.

• Grease and oil kit to lubricate the bike during the ride.

• Gel cover for the saddle to prevent chafing.

• “Bicigrino” bottle that you can take as a souvenir at the end of the trail.

• “Bicigrino” bottle that you can take as a souvenir at the end of the trail.

• Valve adapter to put air for example in gas stations…

Here you can see a wonderful testimonial from a client who rented one of our bikes (Thank you Luis Fidanza, we will take care of Genoveva).

Maybe it was love at first sight. When I met her that afternoon at the end of May, near the border with France, she seemed beautiful to me.

It was very easy to realize that it would also be the first time for her. Without a doubt, it was exactly what I needed to be able to retrace the more than eight hundred kilometers to Santiago de Compostela.

With Genoveva, that’s her name, we left very early on a foggy Sunday, under a cold and persistent drizzle. Let’s say that we started badly, but very excited about what was to come. Little by little I became aware first of my clumsiness in the treatment and then how she was making me understand what and how she wanted me to do things, to say… get along better.

We had a lot of fun throughout the days and kilometers through indescribable landscapes, between olive groves and vineyards, infinite fields of wheat and poppies along tree-lined paths that were always lost behind hills and mountains since the horizon does not exist there. We passed through towns and cities, farmhouses and farmyards that smelled of manure. Brambles, flowers and iguanas accompanied us through all imaginable soils. Sometimes at the speed of sparrows, others at the speed of butterflies and on some climbs almost like snails. Genoveva and I follow each one of the infinite arrows and signs, as many as stars. Steadily west, in the morning his shadow ahead, in the evening my shadow behind. Always together we also had a bad time, but it didn’t last long.

We learned from our gestures and silences, like when she respectfully stayed at the entrance to the cemetery, where I arrived to close a circle of more than one hundred and twenty years. Sometimes when we went down endless slopes he made me understand that he could do more, that he was capable of going down faster and not always, I almost never paid attention to him. I thought that by taking care of me, I would also take care of her. After a few days you could already say that we were made for each other. What’s more, I didn’t understand the journey without her and I even thought of bringing her with me at the end, when I returned to Argentina.

Upon reaching the Plaza del Obradoiro we were greeted by the sounds of bagpipes and drummers. In front of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela I picked her up in my arms, it was all I could do with the little strength I had left. But we continued anyway, if there was more road together we would go to the end, where the Romans said the earth ended. The path ends in Finisterre, facing the sea, simply because there is nothing there other than a rocky tongue that juts out into the Atlantic Ocean and leaves only a path to retrace. From afar he witnessed the rite, the purification of burning the clothes of the path of the stars. Again I thought in the end, what to do with Genoveva? Leave her or bring her with me? I understood that I had finished my path, but she would continue there for a long time, with other people who, better or worse than me, would be her company. Somehow she was made for this and her life would always be one of trails, roots, mud, stones, shoulders, dust and asphalt. I took away all the weight that it had, with my hands I washed it slowly so that it looked beautiful as when I met it. I caressed her, kissed her, left her alone and without looking back I left.

I will never, never forget you Genoveva, Spezialized Crave Comp. 29″ MTB.

See you forever. Buen Camino!
