Albergue Ultreia (Castrojeriz)

We have a wine press. We explain what it was used for, making it work, and at the end, a tasting of home-made herbal orujo (pomace brandy).

Visit to the 18th-century cellar with remains from the 14th-15th centuries, with a tasting of the local wine “Ribera del Arlanza”.

In the garden, a fountain to give your feet and legs a pleasant cold-water massage.

In one of the most typical and genuine villages of the Camino de Santiago is this recently built hostel, opened in March 2014. A new concept of hospitality adapted to new times and new pilgrims from the very conception of the place.

The people who run it, lovers of the Camino and pilgrims before being hosts, will treat cyclists and bicycles with total complicity and kindness.

The hostel has two distinct areas.

Lower floor: Two rooms with 28 beds; two of which are beds, the rest bunks. Dining room – Lounge – Library – Cellar – Showers – Patio.

Upper floor: Three rooms, two doubles and one with two beds. All with bathroom and television.

The two will be connected by an internal staircase.

The town of Castrojeriz will not cease to surprise us with its great number of monuments, its churches, convents and even a castle. In its streets we can feel the essence of time and get lost in alleyways where we will feel transported to other eras.

Castrojeriz will provide us with all the services needed to recover our strength: shops, bars, pharmacy, ATMs.
