This hostel is located in an strategic place in the Northern Way. We will find it a few kilometers from Gernika and slightly before entering Bilbao. For those seeking for a break in the countryside and shy away from the bustle of big cities, it is an ideal place to stop and much more if we come ended our previous stage in Zumaia, as we will get a better stage.

In addition, if you want to visit Bilbao it is much better to wait for the next stage and visit it riding in your bicycle. Leaving the hostel we will be in the capital of Biscay around noon and hopefully we can do the end of stage in the area of Castrourdiales.

Booking in advance is necessary and it is advisable to call to confirm our bed.

To access this hostel we have to deviate from the Camino one kilometer (The turnoff is between the small villages of Olabe and Sabarren) and once we are in the hostel, to return to the path marked by the yellow arrows we can continue following the road going towards Marmiz.

This hostel is located in municipally owned facilities and there is a mountain bike center so it is more than recommended for bicycles and to meet our needs. It is spacious and comfortable.

Booking in advance is necessary and it is advisable to call to confirm our bed.

Next to the hostel there is a bar with great reviews where we can recover after the hard stage.

The monastery
You can attend to the services of the monks, certainly a unique experience.

Since 1988 Zenarruza is a Cistercian monastery. The Cistercian are a monastic order born in the eleventh century and extended through the five continents today. The presence of this community, coming from the monastery of La Oliva in Navarre, in addition to providing care of the place is making possible that Zenarruza can return to be a center of spirituality, which is how and why it emerged. It is also the only community of contemplative monks in the diocese.

Martindozenea Youth Hostel, is the local public Youth Hostel of Irun, it is a modern adaptation of an old manor house, totally reformed, in the heart of a public park, very close to the city center and on the Camino de Santiago (Way of St James) that goes through the coast.

The hostel is appropriate for all kinds of guests: families, sport-groups, cultural groups, etc.

The youth hostel provides all the facilities expected of a hostel and there is also the possibility to obtain the youth hosteler card. Meetings and seminars can be organized. For these there are fully equiped rooms with a slide projector and a video-projector.

The hostel has 60 beds, distributed in 6 rooms for mixed use (men and women), fully adapted for disabled people, distributed in two floors of exclusive use for guests of the hostel.

Irun is enclosed at the easternmost part of the Basque Country, on the border with France (French Basque Country) and Navarre.

It is on top of the Txingudi Bay formed by the Bidasoa river mouth. Hendaya and Hondarribia also belong to this natural area and both possess beatiful beaches. The bay is very beatiful and of high ecological value thanks to the high degree of harmony reached between human development and the respect to the natural environment. To this respect we can stress that Irun is located between two different ecological spaces of high interest.

The Bela Muxía hostel is a space dedicated to all those who want to enjoy a few days ofrest in Muxía (A Costa da Morte) in A Coruña. Stay in our hostel will make the visitor can discover ourmaritime culture, rest and visit in an environment surrounded by nature, beaches, monuments and churches that will never forget.

Surroundings

Muxia is surrounded by excellent beaches that stand out for the quality of its water, the good location and the fine and white sand. Their large number of beaches allows us to choose between those with a smoother or wilder sea, such as Lourido beach or Nemiña; or those with softer water inside the estuary like in A Barreira, Lago, Muíños, Espiñeirido or A Cruz. But in the muxian coast we also have unknown small bays just as the O Coto, As Raias, Vilaverde, Borreiros, Arliña or Arnela.

We have beaches that are protected from the north-east wind, which most strikes in summer time, like A Barreira, Lago, Arliña or Nemiña, facing south or west. In this last one the waves allow us to go surfing. If you do not have means of transportation, you can approach to the nearest beach to the village center on foot like O Espiñeirido, A Cross, Arliña or Lourido.

The church of Santiago is located 300 meters away from our inn, surrounded by hórreos (grain storage buildings). This church was built in the late XIIth century, with multiple reforms.

Santa Lucía chapel, built in the late XIIIth and XIVth centuries. It celebrates the popular Easter festival on Easter Monday.

Ponte Olveira, village and bridge near the river Xallas, in which you are able to observe the marvellous river scenery. In this locality took place a battle against the napoleon armies in the year 1809, during the Napoleonic invasion in the Iberian Peninsula.

Tourist hostel San Jose was opened in the year 2010, by the brothers Vieito Fuentes, with the intention to give rest to the Pilgrims performing the route from Santiago to Finisterrre / Muxia or vice versa. It is also suitable for tourists who wish to spend some relaxing days near the Galician coast, watching and enjoying landscapes, beaches, rials, rivers, monuments, gastronomy, etc.
